Mobile devices are part of the personal and professional routine of society. From the moment we wake up until we go to sleep, we spend many hours in front of our mobiles. The loss or theft of a mobile phone causes a high level of anxiety and nervousness. In these devices, users store large volumes of information, such as photos, videos, private messages, call lists, etc. For this reason, it is important to have a protocol for action in the event of the loss or theft.

The first step will be to call the mobile to check its status, that is, if it is on or off.

Next, it is necessary to check if the function of finding the device is activated: «find my iPhone» (for iPhone terminals) and «find my device» (for Android).

iPhone (activated function): it allows you to locate the terminal; activate “lost mode” so that the owner of the device can be contacted; activate the “make sound” function for when you are close, or factory reset the mobile so that it cannot be accessed without using the Apple ID.

iPhone (feature disabled): Change the password for the Apple ID and the passwords for other accounts associated with the device.

Android (function activated): access the “Search” application from another mobile or via the web; activate the “Play sound” function for when you are nearby; use the “Lock the device” option so that the owner of the terminal can be contacted, or click "Delete" to delete all the information stored on the mobile.

Android (feature disabled): Change the password of the Google account and those of other accounts associated with the device.

Other appropriate measures are to report to the Police and/or request the operator to block the terminal. In both cases, you must provide the serial number of the device and the IMEI.

What is the IMEI?

The term IMEI, which refers to the International Mobile Equipment Identity, is a unique identifier that each terminal has; It is a kind of unique identity card for each mobile device.

How can I get the IMEI?

Basically what you have to do is type *#06# in the application to make calls. After pressing the call button, a window will open with the IMEI of the mobile device.
